Built with John Lewis Partnership
Snowflake had already been selected as JLP’s Partnership Data Platform in 2020, but individual teams were still building pipelines from first principles every time. We formed a blended team — Partnership and Equal Experts data engineers, product owners and data management experts — to build the Paved Road: a repeatable, re-runnable process built around a data product definition. As of August 2024, there are 90 data products live on the Paved Road, enabling teams to launch over 150 data pipelines without depending on a central data engineering team.
Modernisation means self-serve, not just migration
A lot of GCP data platform and Snowflake engagements stop at the migration. We go further: domain teams build and own their own data products instead of queuing behind a central team, and the platform is treated as an ongoing product with its own roadmap — not a project that ends at go-live.

GCP, including BigQuery migration paths for organisations consolidating from multiple prior attempts. dbt for pipelines as code. Collibra for governance and cataloguing, so data products stay discoverable as the platform scales. Tableau for analytics on top of the modernised platform.
