Congratulations to John Lewis & Partners!

Congratulations to John Lewis & Partners for winning the “Best DevOps Cloud Project” category at the recent Devops Industry Awards 2019.

In 2017, John Lewis & Partners established a strategic objective to replatform its monolithic eCommerce applications in its on-premise data centres onto a new cloud-based microservices architecture.  The result is the John Lewis Digital Platform (JLDP), a bespoke cloud-based digital platform with a fully automated, self-service pathway for product teams, based on Continuous Delivery and operability.  It was fully live on both mobile and desktop by April 2018.

The JLDP has already delivered profound results. It has enabled John Lewis & Partners not only to keep up with an ever-changing online retail landscape, but also to put themselves in a position to provide the differentiating services that matter to their customers. It’s also allowed them to innovate quickly, deliver new offerings and continue to provide best-in-class services for their consumers.

The time it takes them to create, enhance or innovate around online services has been reduced from months to days. This gives them more time as an organisation to focus on their customers – ensuring that their commitment to their customers continues to be at the heart of their organisation as the retail space constantly changes.

The DevOps Industry Awards celebrate the companies and individuals who have accomplished significant achievements when incorporating and adopting DevOps practises.  The awards are open to global businesses, companies and organisations, regardless of their size, stature and location worldwide.

We’ve been working with John Lewis & Partners for several years now so it was immensely satisfying for everyone to be rewarded for their hard work.

Congratulations again to John Lewis & Partners and all the other winners for their awards and to all those shortlisted.

Dave Farley, author of the book “Continuous Delivery” will talk about “The Rationale for Continuous Delivery” at a free webinar on Wednesday June 3rd at 6pm BST. Register here to join us.
